Live Stream Video is the Way of the Future!

Live Stream – Web Cast – Streaming on the internet. Call it what you like but sending audio and video live over the internet is a fast growing part of communications and

marketing for any business, City, Regional Council or Government organisation. We even saw this week Peter Jackson web casting a worldwide event for Hobbit fans where stars of the film and its director Sir Peter Jackson answered questions ahead of the release of the second movie in the trilogy. The event was held simultaneously in Wellington, Los Angeles, New York and London. Here’s the link to NZ Herald page where you can see the recording of the live stream.

At Tandem Studios, we are experts at live streaming video

Tandem Studios has been live streaming on the Internet for years now and has developed a lot of expertise in this fast changing and growing part of using the web to communicate. Our biggest live stream was for over 500 hours for the Royal Commission in the Canterbury earthquakes. On top of this we now stream the meetings of the HBRC, Taupo District Council and The ChristChurch Coroners Court Over the last week we streamed live (webcast) from the Michael Fowler centre in Wellington the swearing in ceremony of the new Wellington City Council. For this meeting we used for the first time the new live stream function on You Tube. Heres the recording of the Wellington City Council, Web Cast on You Tube. Tandem Studios also recently secured a two year contract to live stream all of the Christchurch City Council meetings with the first meeting streaming live this Thursday from 9-30am. The Christchurch City Council needed a website to host the stream and then a video library so city ratepayers could view the videos at their leisure so we used our LaBon website streaming and video archive system to build the solution. Tandem provides a two person crew to manage the 8 cameras in the council chambers, and send this out through the live stream and then records and edits the stream for later ease of search and share. The Christchurch City Council live streaming LaBon website is here.

Live steaming video has never been more cost-effective!

Webcast, live streaming or web streaming call it what you will but the opportunity to share your stories and communicate and market to a world wide audience or even a small audience of interested parties has never been easier or more cost effective.

Christchurch company Tandem Studios has begun work on Christchurch City Council live online streaming contract

Christchurch-based company Tandem Studios has begun live online streaming of the newly-elected Christchurch City Council’s meetings. Tandem was awarded the contract to provide live online streaming of council meetings in September after being the successful tenderer in the council’s RFP process and streamed the council’s first meeting on 24 October and the induction of councilors. “We’re delighted that the Council has chosen us to provide its live online streaming service,” says Tandem Studios’ Managing Director, Dave Dunlay. Tandem Studios is New Zealand’s leading producer of online video. It provided the live video streaming and an online video library for the entire proceedings of the Canterbury Earthquakes Royal Commission  - the largest live online streaming project ever undertaken in New Zealand – and provided a similar service for the Coronial inquest into the deaths at the CTV building earlier this year. In addition, Tandem Studios has provided live video streaming and an online video library for Parliament via www.inthehouse.co.nz for the last three years. To date, more than 20,000 videos have been archived in the www.inthehouse.co.nz library, which have attracted more than three million views. “Providing live streaming and online video libraries for local authorities, courts and businesses, for events such as AGMs, is something that is become increasingly common around New Zealand,” says Dunlay. “We already do this for the Wellington City Council, the Taupo District Council and the Hawkes Bay Regional Council. Communities want and expect open access to the democratic process via a medium and at a time that suits them, and live streaming and online video libraries of recorded content are great ways to provide that.” Tandem Studios uses its own LaBonTM software to stream each event and to create online video libraries that viewers can access on a wide variety of devices at a time that is convenient for them. “LaBonTM  has proven to be a fantastic content platform,” says Dunlay. “We are currently in discussions with other local authorities around New Zealand to use it for their meetings and are looking to move into Australia with it next year. “Putting content online is affordable and transparent and it’s how more and more people around the world want to access information. In the second quarter of this year, for example, Ooyala (one of the world’s leading providers of online video hosting and streaming) reached nearly 200 million unique viewers and delivered more than one billion videos every month. “In New Zealand, we saw the power of such online video content earlier this year when hundreds of thousands of people globally watched the third reading of the Marriage Amendment Bill via www.inthehouse.co.nz. We look forward to providing this great tool for open democracy to the newly-elected Christchurch City Council and to other councils around New Zealand.” Ends About Tandem Studios: Established in 1974, Tandem Studios are leading content creation experts in New Zealand and one of Christchurch’s longest-serving and most respected creative companies.
