Petition to save Google Wave

A fan petition is underway to save Google Wave. They’re urging the global internet search giant not to pull-the-plug on the information-sharing site. Check the whole article here.

Google Wave explains itself: A wave is equal parts conversation and document. People can communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.

A wave is shared. Any participant can reply anywhere in the message, edit the content and add participants at any point in the process. Then playback lets anyone rewind the wave to see who said what and when.

A wave is live. With live transmission as you type, participants on a wave can have faster conversations, see edits and interact with extensions in real-time.

If it’s more useful to see it in the visual form, here’s another explanation of Google Wave:

Google’s Android overtakes iPhone

Apple Inc has competition on its hands: Google Inc.

Latest research shows that smartphones with Google’s Android operating system knocked the iPhone out of second place in the first quarter of this year, according to the NPD Group. Google now accounts for 28 per cent of US smartphone sales behind the Blackberry phone, which has a 36 per cent share of the market.

Smartphones allow users to surf the web, send email and run applications on wide, colour screens.

These hand-held devices have become the prime battleground for many technology companies seeking to ensure a good position in the evolving phone market.
