Tandem Studios has been recording since 1974 – in a few different locations around Christchurch. Its current spot, 78 Oxford Terrace, has been home for the last ten or so years.
Being in existence for that length of time has brought its advantages – namely some nice vintage microphones and outboard gear. The recording spaces are pretty groovy too – all rooms are acoustically treated and are neutral sounding – no funky resonances – without being overly live, or dead. Walls provide good isolation, and large windows give clear lines of sight between rooms.

Hourly Rate ( Plus GST ):$100 per hour (1-5 hours) | $85 per hour (5+ hours) | Day rate $900 (12 hours)

Many bands and artists are choosing to record music at home now, on protools LE systems or on other software or hardware equipment. This does make it economical to produce music, but it is very hard to achieve a quality result when mixing on headphones or through average speakers – especially when there’s little formal training or experience in mixing or mastering.
At Tandem we are quite happy to talk to you about mixing and mastering your own recordings, or recordings you’ve made at other establishments.
Our rates are the same as the band rates above, and we have some especially tasty listening and processing devices to get your tracks sounding ace on any stereo.
